Day in the Life (June 30, 2011)

I thought I would try to document one of our summer days here at the Sartori house, so I can remember what my life was like at this moment in time. I know in just a few short years, our lives will be completely different and I want to cherish this time at home during my summer break with Norah.

This morning I got up with Norah around 6:30. She had a restless night last night and was fussing off and on for a good portion of it. We don't know what was causing it, but she seemed fine this morning. Mike was nice enough to get up at 5:00 when she was crying and go in and rock her back to sleep, so I took my "shift" at 6:3o. :) I'm not complaining about 6:30 at all, by the way! That's pretty good around here.

We let Daddy sleep a little longer while Norah ate breakfast (scrambled eggs and toast) and I had my coffee. Then we just played around the house for a little bit. Norah decided to get dressed for the day and pulled out her best accessories. She decided that it just looked SO fabulous to wear them all at one time!

Please also take note of the sunglasses in her hand. She refused to wear them for a picture, but was walking around the house with them on.

She went down for her morning nap around 9 and slept until about 10. I took that time to load up my car with a TON of stuff to take to Goodwill that has just been sitting in our guest room for a few months.

When Norah woke up, we got all packed up (meaning I actually got dressed in decent clothes for the first time this week I think!) and headed out for a few errands. I wanted to go to Home Goods and look around for things for the house - I'm on a re-decorating kick these days. We will see how many projects actually get done this summer! Maybe I'll do a post about that later.

We ended up going to Home Goods, Whole Foods, and Pier 1. Norah was fabulous the entire time. She sat in her stroller and just played with her "Kitty", which is a tiny little stuffed animal that Corinne, her babysitter, gave her a long time ago. She really liked it when I played peek-a-boo with her and Kitty in the stroller.

Then we came home and ate lunch around 12. I could Norah was already getting tired, so we went upstairs, read some books, got the Paci ("Binky"), and laid down for a nap around 12:30.

It's 3:00 now and she's still sleeping, which is a long time for an afternoon nap! I'm guessing that she's catching up from last night.

Tonight I'm cooking Salmon and as a side we will have kale salad and maybe a glass of wine. :)

Typically Mike gets home from work around 5:30 or 6. Norah eats at 5 or 5:30, gets a bath at 6:30 and is usually asleep by 7. This works well for our schedule so that Mike and I can have some time to ourselves to relax before bed.

We usually watch TV or do chores around the house, and head to bed around 10:30.

Well, that's my day today! I'm sure everyone else who reads this will be totally enthralled with our boring days, but I truly want to remember:

The days are long, but the years are short.
